A bustling community fun day

The RegenSpace at 8 Roberts Road was bustling for ‘The Island Stories’ community day yesterday. Kathy Cotton and three Young Ambassadors arrived early, the sunshine was ideal for them for viewing the area through the Camper Obscura. Pat Patel and Nick Bennett dropped in, as well as Clarion Housing’s Pip Gregory and Andrew Cooper. We really enjoyed going through Kathy Cotton’s contribution of photos from locality dating back to the 1970’s and 80’s – taken mostly from the context of her youth and community work they have given us a valuable and tangible insight into life in Barne Barton over the years.  We pondered on the origin of the name of Blackie Woods, local historian Jon Brown has a theory, but it was inconclusive. We were also joined by a new volunteer Emma, as well as Ryan, and Terry and Dylan.  Thanks to everyone for coming and making it a really enjoyable day!
