Fotonow CIC presents THE ISLAND STORIES for Plymouth Art Weekender
featuring Elizabeth Orcutt & Jessica Ashley-Stokes
The Island Stories is a social history project which aims to capture a picture of Barne Barton at a time of change. Fotonow have been working with residents and volunteers in the area since September 2017. Central to the project is the collection of the stories, memories and histories of the area, shared primarily through audio interviews and photography.
For Plymouth Art Weekender these stories are revealed through; documentary photography by Jessica Ashley Stokes, photographic dioramas developed by artist Elizabeth Orcutt, immersive 360° history films made by Fotonow (supported by research from Jon Brown) and further audio interviews undertake during our project research.
There is also the an opportunity to contribute stories and any associated archives during the weekend.
The exhibition is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Clarion Futures, North Yard Community Trust and Arts Council England
