History walks in May 2018

As part of Fotonow CIC’s social history project ‘The Island Stories’ we’re delighted to offer two free history walks around the community of Barne Barton. Meeting at Tamar View Community Centre, you will be guided by local historian Jon Brown as he reveals rich layers of history, from early settlement, to the sixteenth century farm (‘Barne Barton’ actually mean ‘Barne Farm’), to more contemporary military histories.

Book your place on either one of the walks here (both will be the same walk):

Book your place here and then meet on that Saturday at 1pm at Tamar View Community Centre

The walks will take in 10 main locations round the area, and end with free tea / coffee and biscuits at The RegenSpace (8 Roberts Road) – where participants will get to see 360 degree films of the area that accompany Jon’s research.

The Island Stories is a local heritage project supported by North Yard Community Trust, Heritage Lottery Fund and Clarion Housing. Fotonow CIC is building a volunteer programme to capture local stories, and share these leading to a celebration event in December 2018.
